He started off his association with the steelband fraternity with his father's band Invaders, however he has played for many steelbands such as Starlift, Renegades, Desperadoes, Phase 2, Valley Harps, Hummingbird pan groove and UWI festival steel ensemble to name a few. He is the founder of the Starlift Junior Steel Orchestra and has been arranging for them since the band's inception in 2005. His arrangements have taken the band to the finals of the junior panorama competition for the past three years as well as the TnT Music Festival in 2010. He has also done arrangements for Starlift over the years and even took them to the finals of the World Steelband Music Festival in 2004. Barry has completed his Certificate in Music (Pan) at UWI in 2007 and his BA Musical Arts at UWI in 2010. In 2006, he became associated with the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music in London and has since been teaching music theory at different grades with remarkable success rates. He merges music theory with the steelpan as many of the songs he teaches the members of Starlift Junior band are all scored. Arranging and teaching young children are just two of his passions with respect to the steelpan. In 2008, he also became a Music Tutor for the Northern Region of the National Youth Steel Orchestra. He looks forward to the day that all pannists are music literate and is doing his part to make this a reality. In 2008 he placed 2nd in he TnT Music Festival Steelpan Solo - Open category and 3rd in the National Steelband Music Festival. Additionally, he has been performing as a soloist for the past fifteen years and has toured extensively to promote the steelpan abroad.
