Pan holds the spotlight once again this weekend as the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Pan Trinbago and Pan in Schools Coordinating Council (PSCC) host the National Junior Panorama.

This time it’s the turn of young pannists as 35 junior steel orchestras compete in the National Junior Panorama at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, from 9:00 am

Junior steelbands like their senior counterparts may select any calypso once that composition has not been played by the band in a Panorama competition. Each steelband shall perform for a maximum of six (6) minutes.

Participating bands will be judged in three categories ie Primary School (12), Secondary School (10) and Under 21 (13) for prize monies totaling $697,000.

Trinidad’s youngest globally-acclaimed pan virtuoso, Professor Liam Teague, will be honoured at this year’s event.  Teague, known as the Paganini of Pan, is the recipient of a flood of music awards and nationwide recognition in the United States where he resides.

In addition to a wealth of pan talent, patrons will be entertained by Anslem Douglas among others. Admission is free.
