Precious Gilbert-O’Brien Installed as First Female Chair of Pan Trinbago’s Eastern Region

In a historic and proud moment for the Steelband community, Mrs. Precious Gilbert-O’Brien was officially installed as Chairman of Pan Trinbago’s Eastern Region during a installation ceremony held on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at the Curepe Scherzando Panyard, Evans Street, Curepe.

Gilbert-O’Brien secured her position unopposed, as reflected on the official Notice of Candidate, and became the first female to hold this executive role within the region—marking a significant milestone in the organization's history and ongoing commitment to gender inclusion and leadership diversity.

The installation ceremony was attended by members of Steelbands of Pan Trinbago’s Central and Regional Executives, Steelband representatives, from the Eastern Region. The occasion was not only a celebration of leadership but also a reaffirmation of the region’s vision for continued development, empowerment, and unity within the Steelpan movement.

In her acceptance remarks, Mrs. Gilbert-O’Brien expressed heartfelt gratitude and outlined her dedication to the Steelband fraternity. A long-serving Administrative Assistant to the Eastern Region for over nine years, she brings with her deep institutional knowledge, firsthand experience with bands across the region, and a track record of committed service.

Pan Trinbago Vice President Terry Bernard commended Gilbert-O’Brien on her unopposed nomination and installation, noting the significance of her appointment. “This is a proud moment for the women of Pan and a testament to the leadership potential that exists throughout our regions. We look forward to her leadership and the continued progress of the Eastern Region,” Bernard stated.

Mrs. Gilbert-O’Brien’s installation is seen as a new chapter for the Eastern Region, filled with promise, inclusivity, and continued excellence. Her leadership is expected to strengthen regional operations, elevate youth engagement, and solidify the Eastern Region’s role in Pan Trinbago’s national and international mission.
