Pan Trinbago Meets with Ministry of Culture to Advance Steelpan Development

On Monday, May 19th, 2025, President Beverley Ramsey-Moore and members of Pan Trinbago’s Central Executive Committee met with the Honourable Michelle Benjamin, Minister of Culture and Community Development, for a pivotal meet-and-greet session at the Ministry’s Headquarters, Tower C, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.
Also in attendance were the Honourable Dr. Narindra Roopnarine, Parliamentary Secretary; Mr. Videsh Maharaj, Permanent Secretary; Mr. Peter Kanhai, Advisor; and other key personnel from the Ministry.
During the engagement, Pan Trinbago outlined its strategic direction and forthcoming plans to elevate the national musical instrument and further its global mission. The discussions centred on building upon recent milestones and ensuring the sustained growth and institutional support of the steelpan movement.
Minister Benjamin, speaking on behalf of the Ministry, pledged her full commitment to supporting the continuum of Steelpan achievements, recognising its cultural, social, and economic significance to the nation.
The meeting was described as constructive and amicable, with both parties expressing optimism for deeper collaboration in advancing the Steelpan's status and international ascendancy.
